The thought has always been to cut three mantie ropes out of a 100 foot piece of rope. That’s just too short. We start with a 38 foot piece of 3/8 inch New England multi line 2 for a soft, strong mantie rope. After the ends are back spiced and eye spliced we have approx a 37 foot mantie rope, which is a long enough rope to mantie just about anything you are planning to pack.
